Reporting to Finance Manager
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive PSP Accountant to join our Finance team. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and efficiency of our payment service provider (PSP) accounting processes. You will serve as a vital link between internal departments and external PSPs, ensuring timely settlements, compliance with financial terms, and clear financial reporting. This position is suited to professionals with strong analytical skills, a good understanding of accounting principles, and an interest in the fintech/payments space.
Key Responsibilities
PSP Reconciliation & Transaction Monitoring
Reconcile all PSP transactions on a monthly basis to ensure data accuracy.
Verify that PSP fees charged are in line with agreed contractual terms.
Perform monthly reconciliation of service charges on deposits and withdrawals.
Ensure PSPs are settling funds within the agreed-upon timeframes and escalate discrepancies.
Monitor PSP balances on a need basis proactively highlight accounts requiring top-ups or withdrawals.
Data Management & Reporting
Upload and maintain all PSP transactions and fee data in Xero, Payment IQ, and Management Reports.
Create and maintain internal dashboards or trackers for PSP performance metrics.
Assist in the preparation of ad-hoc and scheduled financial reports, including management summaries related to PSP activities.
Stakeholder Collaboration
Liaise closely with the Payments team ahead of new PSP Go-Live dates, confirming commercial terms and fee structures.
Serve as the primary point of contact for all PSP-related queries and troubleshooting.
Coordinate with compliance and legal teams to ensure PSP arrangements adhere to company and regulatory policies.
Accounting & Bookkeeping
Post invoices, execute bookkeeping tasks, and support the accounting ledger maintenance.
Assist with weekly payment runs, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Support in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Audit & Compliance
Support internal and external audit processes by preparing documentation and responding to queries.
Maintain a clean audit trail for all PSP transactions and adjustments.
Continuous Improvement
Contribute to process improvement initiatives in PSP reconciliation and reporting.
Recommend system enhancements and automation tools to streamline workflow and reporting accuracy.
Stay updated with industry trends and regulatory changes affecting PSP operations.
What You Bring
Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Minimum 2 years of experience in accounting or finance roles; experience with PSPs or fintech a strong advantage.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with Xero or similar ERP systems is essential (PaymentIQ).
Strong attention to detail with a methodical approach to data management and reconciliation.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
High degree of integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality.
