Job Title: Product Owner (Payments)
Location: Hybrid - Mrieħel, Malta (3 days per week in office) or Remote in EU/Asia
Reporting to: Head of Product
The Role
We are seeking a Product Owner (Payments) to join our growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for owning and prioritising the product backlog for all payment-related initiatives, ensuring alignment with business goals and operational needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and prioritise the product backlog for all payment-related initiatives, ensuring
alignment with business goals and operational needs. - Gather, define, and translate requirements from Finance and Payments into clear,
actionable user stories for Development teams. - Drive cross-functional delivery by coordinating with the payments integration team,
Finance, and external providers, ensuring smooth execution and accountability. - Oversee and optimise reconciliation, settlement, and reporting projects to improve
efficiency, accuracy, and financial control. - Serve as the primary point of contact for all payment-related initiatives, representing the business in discussions with internal stakeholders and external partners.
- Ensure payment platforms and processes are fully documented, with clear ownership of ongoing maintenance, improvements, and scalability across brands.
What You Bring
- Minimum 2 years experience as a Product Owner or Project Manager in iGaming or FinTech.
- At least 3 years hands-on experience in payments, with strong understanding of
payment gateways, PSPs, reconciliation, settlements, and transaction flows. - Solid knowledge of financial operations including fee structures, chargebacks,
refunds, and treasury processes. - Strong technical fluency, with the ability to understand APIs, reporting feeds, and data mapping, and to communicate effectively with Development teams.
- Proven track record of working with Finance and Payments teams to deliver scalable, operationally sound solutions.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to bridge business, technical, and financial teams.
- Strong analytical mindset, capable of identifying issues, uncovering product gaps, and driving improvements.
- Exceptional communication and documentation skills, ensuring clarity, accountability,and adoption across teams.
