Job Title: Chief Legal Officer
Location: Hybrid - Mrieħel, Malta or Remote from Europe

The Role

We are seeking an exceptional and highly strategic Chief Legal Officer (CLO). The CLO will serve as the principal legal advisor, responsible for leading all legal, compliance, and regulatory affairs globally.

This is a critical role that requires not only deep legal expertise in the iGaming industry but also strong creative strategic vision, business acumen, and the ability to operate effectively in both B2C (with a primary focus) and B2B business environments. This mandate includes expanding into new markets and setting up new business entities.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the trusted legal advisor on all material legal, regulatory, governance, and compliance matters.
• Define and direct the company's global legal strategy to enable business objectives while managing and mitigating critical legal risks. Integrate legal considerations into the overall corporate strategic planning process.
• Oversee and set the strategic direction for the global legal and compliance functions, ensuring proactive adherence to all international laws, regulations, and licensing requirements (e.g., Curacao, other similar and future jurisdictions).
• Establish and maintain robust corporate governance structures and practices in line with best-in-class standards and regulatory expectations. Oversee the preparation and management of board and committee materials related to legal matters.
• Design, implement, and maintain a comprehensive  legal risk management framework. Advise the executive team on the legal implications of all major business decisions and new product launches.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the internal Legal and Compliance department. 
• Lead the legal strategy and execution for major corporate transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, and significant financing activities.
•  Determine the strategy for managing significant, high-stakes litigation, regulatory inquiries, investigations, and dispute resolution globally.

What You Bring

• 10+ years of progressively responsible legal experience, with at least 5+ years in a senior leadership role.
• Deep and comprehensive expertise in the iGaming/Online Gambling industry, including a mastery of global regulatory landscapes, particularly the critical jurisdictions mentioned (Curacao, Tobique, Kanawake, etc).
• Law degree from an accredited institution. 
• Demonstrated ability to understand complex business models (B2C & B2B) and provide practical, risk-balanced legal advice that aligns with commercial goals.
• Exceptional proven leadership skills with the ability to lead a diverse, global team and influence executive peer & management.
• Outstanding communication, negotiation, and presentation skills. Ability to articulate complex legal issues to non-legal audiences and regulatory bodies.
• Ideally based in a core operational hub (e.g., Malta) to facilitate executive-level engagement, or willingness to travel.
