Location: Hybrid - Birkirkara, Malta (3 days per week in office)
Reporting to Chief Legal Officer

Key Responsibilities

• Provide operational Legal Support, serving as the primary legal advisor for the office and delivering real-time guidance to various teams.

• Contract lifecycle management: Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial and employment contracts, ensuring they align with corporate standards, Maltese law and EU directives.

• Regulatory and employment liaison, managing relationships with Maltese authorities and overseeing visa issuance and contractor engagements to ensure smooth administrative operations.

• Execute daily compliance tasks, including AML/KYC checks and the integration of background check software to streamline onboarding.

• Local bureaucracy management, handling the necessary paperwork and legal filings required to maintain an effective operation.

What You Bring

• Law Degree (LL.D or equivalent) and a warrant to practice in Malta.

• Proven experience within FinTech or Payments sectors, with a solid understanding of Maltese and EU employment law.

• Fluency in Maltese and English is mandatory, as you will be dealing directly with local entities and navigating Maltese-language documentation.

• Previous experience with or a strong interest in background check and compliance software to automate manual processes.

• Highly skilled at managing bureaucratic requirements, including immigration and work permit processes, without compromising project efficiency.
