Software Architect

We are looking for a Software Architect who will scale global distributed systems and shape high-availability architecture within a fast-moving gaming and fintech ecosystem.

We usually respond within a week

Location: Hybrid - Birkirkara, Malta (3 days per week in office) or Remote from Europe
Reporting to: CTO

Key Responsibilities

  • 3+ years as a Software Architect or Principal Engineer.

  • 8+ years building high-volume, high-availability distributed systems.

  • Experience designing large-scale cloud architectures in production environments.

Technical Skills

  • Strong backend engineering experience (Node.js, Java, Go, Python, or similar).

  • Deep understanding of relational databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL) and Redis.

  • Experience with microservices, REST/GraphQL APIs, and event-driven systems.

  • Familiarity with message queues/streaming (Kafka, RabbitMQ, Pub/Sub, SNS/SQS).

  • Cloud expertise (AWS or GCP) across compute, networking, and security.

  • Strong containerization/orchestration experience (Docker, Kubernetes/ECS).

  • CI/CD experience and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).

  • Understanding of real-time communication (WebSockets, stateful connections).

Soft Skills

  • Excellent problem-solving and architecture-level debugging skills.

  • Strong communication with ability to explain complex concepts clearly.

  • Hands-on, pragmatic, and comfortable working in fast-moving environments.

  • Strong teamwork and cross-functional collaboration skills.

  • Upper-Intermediate English proficiency.

What You Bring

  • Experience in online casino, sportsbook, gaming, or fintech.

  • Knowledge of wallet systems, game provider integrations, or bonus engines.

  • Experience with odds systems or real-time betting architectures.

  • Multi-region cloud deployments.

  • Understanding of gaming regulatory compliance or PCI-DSS.
